Privacy Policy

Effective October 31, 2026

RegEx Explorer is a macOS app made by Robert Hedin. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: it collects nothing, and everything you enter stays on your Mac.

Information the app collects

None. RegEx Explorer does not collect, store on a server, share or sell any personal information. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting of its own.

Data stored on your Mac

The regexes you save, their test text and their options are kept in a file named regexes.json in the app's Application Support folder, inside its macOS sandbox container. This file never leaves your Mac unless you copy it yourself. Deleting the app's container removes it.

Network access

The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox and does not make network connections. Matching, replacing, filtering and code generation all happen on your Mac.

Apple

If you download the app from the Mac App Store, Apple may collect information under its own privacy policy, for example about purchases and, if you've opted in, crash reports that Apple may share with developers in anonymous form. See Apple's privacy policy.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare may process standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

Because the app collects no information, it collects no information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
